Editors' Introduction

Welcome to First Monday for 1997. In the last issue for 1996, we provided you with the first half of a new book on computers in education by Frederick Bennett. Entitled "Computers as Tutors," the rest of the book appears in this issue. We welcome your comments on this book, and its recommendations to some serious difficulties in classrooms in the United States and around the world.

First Monday has changed for 1997, and we look forward to your responses to our remodeling. We will continue to provide you with leading articles on Internet issues, as well as timely reviews of new books, and occasional interviews. We welcome your contributions to First Monday. Please feel free to contact us with your ideas.
