This month's issue of First Monday includes three chapters from Michael Hauben and Ronda Hauben remarkable book Netizens: On the History and Impact of Usenet and the Internet. In 18 chapters and 344 pages, this book provides a snapshot of the Internet and Usenet communities and gives its readers a fascinating overview of the history of network communications.

First Monday will publish six chapters altogether from Netizens with the Preface and the initial three chapters in this month's issue, and three additional chapters in the August issue.

Netizens is copyrighted by Michael Hauben and Ronda Hauben and is reprinted with their kind permission and encouragement.
